Week 9

Final Work

‘Past, Feelings’

The feedback on this piece I feel partly shows the direction of my work and the new theoretical knowledge I have gained from this work as well as new skills that can also be used to help me with my creative practice. This is testament to my enthusiasm for participation, which reflects the conceptual and technical information. I have ideas and attempts at different levels that I want to try, to explore the deeper knowledge of this skill.

But on the other hand. After self-review and feedback, I recognized that there were issues, to varying degrees, in each part of my work that I needed to address in my portfolio. Firstly, I need to learn better ways and techniques to use different methods to give feedback. To learn to communicate content with clarity of expression and purpose, as well as the ability to maintain my logic and continuity of work. In addition, I need to try out more new skills and carefully select the materials and resources I need and might use so that I can strengthen my skills and knowledge of the material in order to experiment with it in my portfolio. Most importantly, I need to effectively apply professional behaviors to my practice and increase my productivity. I needed to develop a daily schedule through thorough reflection and personal development to help me start working effectively in my creative practice.

Having addressed these issues, I think my work will allow people to understand what I am trying to say and gain a better expression and skill.

Week 8

World Building

After confirming the research and style of the work, I began to envision and conceive the three things I wanted to show about my home town and what was important to me. To better conceive the idea, I simply spent a floor plan. to better show my hometown, Shenzhen. I wanted to create a city where nature and the city were combined with the sea, just as the reality it represents. so I wanted to divide it into sections, sea, beach, park and city. After this I improved on this and managed to plan a second and final version of Munich, after confirming the direction I began to create the world using unity. after several failed attempts and searching for and using other materials and resources, I finally finished the work “The past, the feeling”

Week 7

Improvements to the plan based on research

Based on various previous research, it left me feeling vacant about the initial design plans. So I set out to improve on this and try to create a workable, more concrete solution.

This is the scheme I drew up for the second time, and it is more complex than the initial one. More of the buildings show the large number of old residential buildings in the Shekou area, and also set off the tallness and prominence of the China Resources Tower in red. The old concrete sea stone wall and the more tropical parkland. I believe that all of this gives a better understanding of the uniqueness of this part of Shenzhen.

The last change I made to the programme was to confirm a workable viewing sequence. It has always been a problem for me to see all the things I wanted to express in this world in one go. But in the end, I settled on a workable route. Starting from the purple position and proceeding in a back-to-back order. To ensure that the player runs out of bounds, I also set up a special transparent wall to ensure that this doesn’t happen.

Week 6

Research and ideas for Shenzhen

The research identify what kind of buildings and things are in my hometown, and to identify the three that I have chosen that best represent my past in Shenzhen and include my feelings towards my hometown. The research showed that Shenzhen, one of the most southerly cities by the sea in China, is also one of the fastest growing and expanding cities in recent years, as I could not possibly depict an entire city. So I would like to depict a part of the area where I live, Shekou District. It exists as the port area and the old residential district of Shenzhen.

Through the photographs I had taken in the past, I began to define the style, the look of the building. And the feeling of urbanity and nature that a city like Shenzhen has created.

  • For me, this is the area I know best and have lived in for the longest time. As for the reasons for choosing these three things, first of all, most of the land in Shekou is artificially reclaimed land, and in the early days these concrete walls were made to keep out the waves in order to prevent some tides. • First of all, most of the land in Shekou is artificially reclaimed land, and in the early days these concrete walls were made to keep out the waves in order to prevent some tides. In the early days, concrete walls were made to keep out the waves. Later, they were transformed into stone walls for aesthetic purposes. Nowadays, these walls are a common part of the district and can be found close to the coast and in the seafront parks. For me these stone walls along the shoreline were the signposts I used to use every day when I went to school to show me where to go and where I was home. It contains most of my memories of primary school.
  • Secondly, Shenzhen Bay Park, a landmark park in Shenzhen, situated along 9.06km of coastline, is the symbol of the charm and image of the modern coastal city of Shenzhen. This park is also the place I remember most about Shenzhen, as I used to ride bicycles throughout the park with friends in the early hours of the morning, picnics and sports in the park with my family, and it was the place where we counted down to the New Year’s Eve fireworks display every year.
  • Last but not least is the China Resources Tower, known as the Springbok Tower, which is visible from all over Shekou and I often look at it to see where I am going. The building also took a long time to build, starting when I first arrived in Shenzhen and only gradually being completed when I was ready to leave to study in the USA.

Week 5

This week, it was my first exposure to the project. Having understood and appreciated what was required, I began to envision and conceive the three things I wanted to show about my home town and what was important to me. To better conceive the idea, I simply spent a floor plan.
To better show my hometown, Shenzhen. I wanted to create a city where nature and the city were combined with the sea, just as the reality it represents. So I wanted to divide it into sections, sea, beach, park and city.

The green in the picture represents the park approach, the grey the urban approach, the brown the beach and the blue the sea. This image is just a previous vision and there are many more areas to explore and change.
